Solace

Lois Thompson · 20 Aug 2024

Alone all at sea

Flimsy as a shipwreck tossed like flotsam.

Floating then drowning in the salty blue

Round the tides rhythm turns me

Dipping and dropping low beneath the waves

Swirling swelling motion of the sea,

rise and fall, sway and swing and the seas rhythm

rocks me in liquid turquoise.

Horizons appear with the swelling of the tide

and the sea is caressing me

Wrapped in the depths of profound love

Watery arms hold on as we pavane together

The wisdom of time and tides, beginnings and endings

held in a sea of memory comfort me

immersed in love hope arises in me again

And I retrace the revisiting of life

Memories deep in the body wake me up

And I swim

hesitantly,

tentatively

lyrically

For shore leeward Where life continues

as it always will I find my heart needs to engage again

To face life's vagaries

And I let the tide pull me in.
